PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — From February 6 to 13, 2025, 11 Japanese and 4 Cambodian youth joined the first Cambodia Study Tour, an 8-day program held in Phnom Penh, Takeo, and Kirirom.

The tour opened with sessions on Cambodia’s history, focusing on the Khmer Rouge era. In Takeo, participants stayed with local families and attended a peace seminar featuring two survivors of the Pol Pot regime—an emotional and eye-opening experience for many.

The final leg brought the group to a university in Kirirom, where they discussed Cambodia’s development and future. Four Cambodian university students joined as local participants from the homestay through the end, helping bridge cultures and deepen dialogue.
The tour provided a rare glimpse into Cambodia’s past, present, and future—through its history, daily life, and the voices of its youth.
